Film Review | The Dark Knight Rises

At the beginning of the year, you would be hard pressed to find a ‘most anticipated films of 2012’ list that didn’t feature The Dark Knight Rises. But Batman on film wasn’t always this popular; 1997’s Joel Schumacher directed Batman & Robin is widely regarded as one of the worst comic book movies of all time (and with good reason). Christopher Nolan managed to reinvigorate the franchise with 2005’s Batman Begins.  He went one better and set a new benchmark for superhero movies with The Dark Knight in 2008. With The Dark Knight Rises, has Nolan outdone himself again?

  1. The movie was ok. I still like The Avengers more.

    • Both great movies, but TDKR is the film of the year for me!

  2. Didn’t enjoy this one too much – it felt too muddled and was dragged under by its own seriousness. But great review though 🙂

  3. I personally loved this movie. Definitely my favorite of the year and of the Dark Knight Trilogy (although Dark Knight is pretty close behind). Even though the movie did feel muddled in places, it was the conclusion I was waiting for and I couldn’t have been happier. Great Review!

    • Thanks! Love this film too, although if I had to review it again I would give it 4 stars instead of 5. There’s a lot of surprising mistakes for a filmmaker of Nolan’s caliber. Still love it though!
