Film Trailer | Man of Steel

The UK release of Marvel’s Iron Man 3 may be just around the corner and The Wolverine has been steadily building anticipation after the release of its first teaser, but for many, DC Comics’ Man of Steel is still the biggest superhero film of 2013. Small titbits of information for Superman’s eagerly-awaited return to the big screen have been making their way to us via online and magazines in the past few weeks, but fans have been baying for some new, substantial footage. That has finally come in the form of a third full-length trailer, and what it reveals will no doubt get people even more excited to see just what Zack Snyder (Watchmen) and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) have done with comic book history’s most iconic character.

There’s certainly a lot to chew on in this third and final trailer; the opening shots show the destruction of Krypton and a young Kal-El being sent off planet by his father, Jor-El (Russell Crowe), whilst later on we see Kevin Costner’s Jonathan Kent counselling his adopted son to find his own way. The sense of belonging will play a huge part in the film, and what has been shown to that effect so far has been intriguing. The biggest takeaway from this latest trailer though is our best look yet at the film’s expansive CGI set pieces. Superman is one of the most powerful superheroes ever envisioned, but his considerable strength hasn’t yet been effectively conveyed in live action.

With Snyder at the helm, Man of Steel will surely look to change all that, and although most of the new clips fly by almost as fast as Superman himself, it’s still clear that viewers will be treated to a healthy amount of visual spectacle once the film is released – a large proportion of it courtesy of Michael Shannon’s maniacal nemesis General Zod (pictured). Brit Henry Cavill is the actor who has been deemed worthy to fill out Supes’ iconic suit, and he’ll be joined by Crowe, Costner, Shannon, Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Christopher Meloni (Colonel Hardy) and Antje Traue (Faora).

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is released in UK cinemas on 14 June, 2013.

  1. Main compliment is how fast superman is in this film 😀

Faster than a speeding bullet is what a live action version of superman needs 😀

    • Nice post! Zimmer’s score sounds incredible. I must have watched the last minute of this trailer at least 10 times. Unsurprisingly it hasn’t gotten boring yet…
