Film Trailer | The Amazing Spider-Man 2
As we near the end of 2013, the time has come to not only look back at the year’s best (and worst) films, but also to look forward to next year’s offerings. One of the most highly anticipated releases is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), a sequel to Marc Webb’s not-so-amazing 2012 franchise reboot. The marketing machine has been getting into full swing over the past few weeks, from new posters and stills to not one, not two, but three ten-second teaser trailers granting us a brief look at the web-slinging hero. Now a full two-minute plus trailer has hit the web (no pun intended), and the footage gives us a closer look at what Peter/Spidey will have to overcome.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (British actor Andrew Garfield, The Social Network). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone, The Wolf of Wall Street). But being your local neighbourhood web-slinger comes at a price: only Spidey can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx, Django Unchained), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan, The Place Beyond the Pines), returns, Peter comes to realise that all of his enemies have one thing in common: the ominous OsCorp.
Not only are there glimpses of all the major villains (including what looks to be DeHaan’s Osborn on a Green Goblin glider, as well as nods to The Vulture and Doctor Octopus), but Richard Parker’s work at OsCorp – which was only touched on in the first instalment – will be a bigger plot point here. The action already looks considerably better than the franchise opener; Spider-Man feels a lot more in-tune with his abilities this time round, and the tracking shot of the web-slinger in mid-battle with Electro is a glorious money shot to finish with. All things considered, it would seem that Webb’s sequel will do a better job of living up to its title.
Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released in UK cinemas on 14 April, 2014.

It’s pretty spectacular right! I was underwhelmed by the first one, but judging by this trailer the sequel is going to be much, much better. Only 4 months for us UK peeps to wait! 🙂

I actually really loved the first but I wasn’t so sure about this one because it seemed like a mess to me, with how they cut Shailene Woodley from the film and they had 3 villains and all.

The amount of villains won’t bother me if they can make the film better. It’s possible to have a great story that incorporates multiple villains and utilizes them well.
Also, cutting Shailene Woodley makes sense in the grand scheme of things if they’re trying to play out this Gwen Stacy death storyline from the comics. Though it seems like there is a glimpse of Woodley in the trailer…
