Film Trailer | X-Men: Days of Future Past
Whilst we’ve seen arguably a little too much footage from Marc Webb’s upcoming Marvel superhero offering The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), almost the opposite can be said for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) – a detail all the more surprising when you consider that its release is less than two months away (official UK release date has been set for 22 May). Since the reserved announcement trailer back in late October of last year, all we’ve seen is a deluge of character posters and a tantalising Instagram teaser. So today, 20th Century Fox have finally unveiled a second full-length trailer, and it’s decidedly more ostentatious.
Do have a gander at the film’s official synopsis below, courtesy of Murdoch’s finest.
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.
The two-minutes plus of new footage is loaded with glimpses of action sequences; Michael Fassbender’s Magneto controlling a battalion of Sentinels, Iceman’s signature ‘ice-slide’, and Storm maxing out her powers are but a few of the shots on offer here. There’s also a host of mutant cameos both new and old from the fiery Sunspot (Adan Canto) to the metal-clad Colossus (Daniel Cudmore), both seen combating a Sentinel. It should be also noted that the special effects all look very polished, from the Sentinels to the showcasing of various mutants’ powers.
Alongside the generous helping of action we also gain a better understanding of the story, which takes its inspiration from John Byrne and Chris Claremont’s popular graphic novel. A Patrick Stewart voiceover asks “Are we destined to destroy each other? Or can we change who we are and unite? Is the future really set?”, questions which Singer and X-Men: Days of Future Past’s impressive ensemble – which includes James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen and Omar Sy – will no doubt do its best to answer come May-time.
Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is released in UK cinemas on Thursday 22 May 2014.

I wasn’t COMPLETELY blown away by this trailer but I am now much more excited for this film that I was before. What a great cast!

Indeed. Was more worried than excited about this one but this trailer has reversed that. PRAYING Singer doesn’t mess it up!
