Film Review | Thor: The Dark World

After the billion dollar successes of both Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 3, Marvel’s ‘Phase Two’ continues with the highly anticipated Thor: The Dark World. With Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor replacing Kenneth Branagh at the helm, the sequel serves up the thrills as well as the laughs in what is an enjoyable superhero outing.

Much like Branagh’s franchise opener, The Dark World begins with Anthony Hopkins’ Odin narrating a prologue before we catch up with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who’s been busy on cosmic peacekeeping duty post-Avengers. When an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) resurfaces on the hunt for a powerful weapon that could destroy the universe, Thor must ally with the mischievous Loki (Tom Hiddleston) if he is to save the Nine Realms.

This year, I’m hoping to produce a lot more video content, from montages to top 10’s. As some of you know already – or have guessed – I am a huge superhero fan, and as such my first montage is a tribute to a great year of comic book movies.

Film Trailer | Marvel’s Avengers Assemble

No, that is not a typo; in case you hadn’t heard, ‘Marvel’s Avengers Assemble’ is the new UK title for the eagerly anticipated superhero team-up, set to hit cinemas on April 26. New footage has been revealed today via the second full trailer, and it does not disappoint. Have a gander after the jump.

Back in October 2011, we got our first look at The Avengers with an impressive debut trailer. As it nears its release date of May 4 (mark it in your calendars folks), more snippets of footage are making their way to the web. This action packed TV spot which aired during the Super Bowl last night is guaranteed to have anticipation at a fever pitch.
